Amazon requests that staff members return to work three days a week.
When teams interact in person more regularly, Jassy finds that the bonds between them are generally stronger.
New Delhi: From May 1, three days a week, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has requested staff to report to work. Each team at the organization previously decided who would report to work. Jassy recognized that some roles, such as salespeople and customer support, will be exempt from the new policy, but "that will be a small percentage."
He also acknowledged that it is difficult to rehire thousands of workers at Amazon locations around the world.
"We'll allow the teams responsible for that task some time to come up with a strategy. Although initially, it won't be ideal, the working environment will gradually get better over the next months (and years), "He stated this in an email to the staff.
"I am aware that there will be queries regarding the implementation of this adjustment. In the upcoming weeks, we'll be settling on those particulars "Jassy tacked on. Three years have passed since Amazon advised all of its employees "who were able to work from home to do so" during the pandemic.
The business then made a few updates to the guidance, the most recent of which said that Director-level leaders would choose for their teams where they would work (in the second half of 2021).
"When we spend the majority of our time at the office together and surrounded by our coworkers, it is simpler to learn, model, practice, and enhance our culture. It's true for everyone at Amazon, but it's especially true for new hires (and we've employed a lot of people during the pandemic) "Jassy added.
He found that when teams interact in person more regularly, relationships between them are generally stronger.
Additionally, Jassy expressed optimism that this change will benefit the thousands of businesses around our urban headquarters and the other cities where our workers commute to work.
